ROAD WORK

VIENNA TWP., Mich. - The Genesee County Road Commission will be paving Wilson Rd. between Linden Rd. and Elms Rd. on Thursday, May 16 from 7 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. The road will be closed to thru traffic. Buses and emergency vehicles will be able to pass through the work zones. Motorists should allow additional time to reach their destination.

FLINT, Mich. - The Genesee County Road Commission will be temporarily closing the eastbound I-69 to Saginaw St. on Saturday, May 18 from 7 a.m. to 11a.m. for light pole repairs. Motorists should find an alternate route and allow additional time to reach their destination.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing approximately $431,000 to improve the northbound I-75 Exit 118 ramp to M-21 (Corunna Road) in Genesee County. Work will include a turn lane extension, slope grading, curb and gutter, signs, and pavement marking.

FLINT, Mich.

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is investing $7.7 million to replace the Gilkey Creek culvert, replace the water main and sanitary sewer, and rebuild the M-54 (Dort Highway)/Court Street intersection in the city of Flint starting April 16. Both directions of M-54 will be closed at Court Street. Crews will also replace the traffic signals at the intersection.

This closure is being done to allow crews to safely replace the culvert while improving the M-54/Court Street intersection.

DAVISON, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will close three ramps at I-69 and Irish Road (eastbound I-69 to Irish Road, southbound Irish Road to westbound I-69 and southbound Irish Road to eastbound I-69)  starting April 8 to accommodate the next phase of the Genesee County Road Commission’s improvement project on Irish Road.

FLINT, Mich. - The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) will begin work on an approximately $141 million investment to rebuild more than 3 miles of I-475 from the Flint River to Carpenter Road in Flint. Work includes rebuilding the roadway, a new bridge over the Flint River, and improvements to several other structures along the corridor.

Funding for this project is made possible by Gov. Gretchen Whitmer's Rebuilding Michigan program to rebuild the state highways and bridges that are critical to the state's economy and carry the most traffic. The investment strategy is aimed at fixes that result in longer useful lives and improves the condition of the state's infrastructure.

Crews will address work on northbound I-475 through this November, and then begin work on southbound I-475 in spring 2025. Beginning April 15, crews will detour northbound I-475 via I-69 and I-75. One lane will be maintained on southbound I-475. Intermittent lane closures are currently in place for construction staging and pavement repairs prior to the main project starting on April 15.
